Newborn Newborn

Our baby miracle , Gail , arrived to this world on December 17, 2008.
She is very sweet and likes to smile a lot, specially when she dreams... and when I smile at her. She is tender and loving. She has a special strength. Her baby brother, Nahuel, will live forever in our hearts.

The toughest job you will ever love...

Posted on Jan 28th, 2009 by Galia : Peace lover Galia
Surprised

Being a full-term parent is not an easy endeavour. It may not even be feasible due to financial constraints. First of all, you will encounter all sort of messages from people who simply think you should just go and earn money and make progress in your own career... sometimes the messages come in the form of silence. There are those who think that you "don't like your job". I even read about people saying that staying at home to take care of your kids puts your brain at rest or is " not progressive" . In fact , being a good commited full-term parent involves puting your brain at work more than ever. It can encourage you to be creative if you are open to it.
From my perspective, being a full-term parent is not about being a housewife or an overprotective parent. It is the precious job of taking care of your kid full-time, guiding him/her, watching him/her, supporting him/her at times of frustration, encouraging him/her to learn something new and not to be afraid of that. There is also a lot you can learn from your own kid... Each phase of development is an opportunity for new discoveries and creativity.
Being a full-term parent is looked down by many people out there, even your own relatives. Yet, I believe I can do a better job than any nanny or teacher. After all, who is going to love your kid more than you do?
There is no money in return for this precious job, but a healthy kid turning into a healthy adult in the future... I may be able to let you know what happens in the future. In the meantime , let me enjoy my full time motherhood. It is the toughest job I will ever love...
